I just have to record this down as a milestone in Ally's emotional development.
You see, Moo Moo Cow, one of three soft toys she takes to bed everynight, fell sick. Well, actually his neck had a hole and fur kept spilling out.
Mark was disgusted and told me to throw it away while Ally was asleep. I said we couldn't, not without asking Ally and letting her know beforehand. He was like, "suit yourself, but anyway she won't understand one".
So when Ally awoke, I took her aside with Moo Moo Cow and told her, " Moo Moo Cow is sick, we have to throw him away" She said,"OK!" in her usual chirpy tone. Mark gave me a triumphant look. I looked back at Ally and noticed she was rather quiet. I said again, " So we'll throw Moo Moo Cow away yah Ally because he's sick."
She said "Ok Mummy, It's ok Mummy" again but tears were welling up in her eye and her lips were quivering. I then realised she was feeling really sad but was trying to put on a brave chirpy front. But this front crumbled and she finally burst into tears.
My dear little Ally is able to feel a sense of loss, she's growing up.
