My Little Bubble= Lifetime of Flabby Tummy?

A few days ago, I went to the doctor to check out a little bump on my stomach that appears when I lie flat on my back. It's not hard, more like a bubble of air that rises. When I am hungry, I can hear the gastric juices building up and the air collecting and the bump appears, the size of a little marble. When I push it down, it disappears.

Anyway, with my mom's stomach cancer, I decided to check it out nonetheless. And guess what, according to doc, it's a minor hernia. It won't go away, I just have to prevent it from getting worse. How? Stop straining my stomach muscles!

My immediate thought! Oh no! Flabby stomach forever then. How am I supposed to get back into shape after my three children ( my ideal number!)?

Doc says it might have been my over zealous exercise with pilates that brought it on. I did pilates about three months after my delivery and it really helped tone my stomach up. Infact, I only discovered the bubble while doing pilates since the exercise really focuses on the core abdominal muscle for everything. I mean, I never felt or looked at my tum tum so closely before.

Anyway, being the vain person that I am, I am quite upset by this. I can't carry heavy things ( does the baby count? Hmm) and I can't do too much stomach exercises. ( I never did all that much anyway). What I learnt from Pilates though is that focusing on your core abdominals and strengthening them will help prevent all the back ache you get from taking care of a child.

So, now I've got to get backaches?

Anybody have any thoughts on this? I mean, how can any strengthening of the stomach muscles be bad?
