Do what? Get a maid! Mark and I have always been trying our very best to do without, since we can't bear the thought of having another person in the house day in and day out. It will be too intrusive! Mark can't walk around in his boxers, we have to close the door when we change and we'll be short of one room!
But it soon became clear we couldn't do without, with my new maternity wear business coming up next month ( NOTE: It's at Specialists' Shopping Centre, #01-41, YES I AM ADVERTISING. Come down for great fashion labels from US and UK and be able to RENT or BUY your maternity wear!).
Anyway, since we now are very strict about her naps and early bedtime, we really need someone to be with Alison at home during these times. My in laws have agreed to be around too but having the maid will help ease the physical load for them.
So, we now have DELIA. When we brought her home a week ago, Alison took to her really well! She allowed herself to be carried, fed and bathed( although still protesting a little) that same day! And today, Delia even put her down for her naps.
She's also a great baby entertainer, although her filipino accent makes everything sound rather strange. Her renditon of "Hey Diddle Diddle" left one of my friends wondering what local folk song she was singing.

Well, this photo is rather misleading. Ally's grumpy here from a disturbed nap. She really likes Delia!
Mark and I have also been living it up. The first day, we were just lounging around, shaking our legs! No dishes to wash, no food to cook, no clothes to wash. As Mark said, we can now spend our time on value-added brainy stuff and the more important things in life like exercising ( Ha, He has yet to go jogging since the maid came.. so .....)
Still, while we are enjoying life with a maid now, I am careful to be make sure Alison doesn't get detached from her own parents. I am bringing Alison to my shop a few times a week. And when I can, I will rock and nurse her to sleep. I love doing that, it's very therapeautic. I am also watching her language development.. since she might very well end up saying" Ah-poool ( Apple) ....you know, the "filipino accent" way.
