Angeline Goes to School

Today was Angie's first day at school. We had originally planned to send her when she turned two. However, we finally decided sending her earlier might be better for her mental development. At home, she has a tendency to just loll around, from sofa to bed to floor, just stoning out and chilling. Unlike her sister, who would potter about the house, you know, "discovering" things and learning. Angie likes to BUM around, so that's why we decided some structured play would be beneficial.

Everything went pretty well in the beginning. Angie is more outgoing than her sister, so she was fine interacting on her own as long as I was somewhere around the class. Here she is observing from a distance.

During snack time.

See how big her class is - in Alison's time it was much smaller at just 6 students... hmmm. now there are like 12. Angie is as always the smallest, just like her sis.

It went downhill though when the classes had combined playtime. There are no pictures from here on...

Silly Alison started to get clingy and jealous and started acting up. She wanted to be carried just like mei mei. Angie then started clamouring for my attention even more, as she did not want to lose out to her sister. Rachel, Alison's cousin, then started to wail too... because Rachel is SUPER attached to Cheh Cheh Alison and got upset because Ally kept disappearing out of their class to cling to me in the baby class!

So, we have 3 kids wailing, 2 clinging on to me, one clinging on to Alison. The school principal and teachers were quite horrified at the scene. Not only was the new kid screaming, the two older supposedly settled pioneer students were wailing too... AIYOH!

So guess what? I left.

I shoved Angie into her form teacher's arms and sent Ally and Rachel back to their classes. I sneaked back half an hour later to take a peek and guess what, everyone was fine! Angie had stopped crying after a few minutes after Miss Hannah reasoned with her that there was no point crying. That is according to Miss Hannah who said Angie nodded and said yes, as though she understood. Mealtime was next and Angie was so at home she even had two helpings of her fried rice.

Then, everyone took the school bus home (the highlight of Angie's day - she loves to take the bus). According to the bus teacher, Angie did not cry but her older sis Ally did. Are we getting a sense of who the main trouble maker was today? Ask her though and she will tell you she DIDN"T cry.

So, anyway, it's a wrap. I'm just dumping everyone in school tomorrow and leaving. Hopefully, everything works out and I am home free, with every morning entirely to myself. The joys of having kids reaching school going age...
