I've weaned Angeline off breast milk errr, unintentionally actually. You see, two days before I left for Hong Kong, I was sick with fever and skipped one or two pumping sessions. And then once I was in Hong Kong, I discovered that I had brought the pump, extra batteries, the power plug, the funnels but I forgot the TUBES!
Desperate, I hand squeezed my slightly full breast. Amazingly, I even managed a let down. Told Mark who said there was no way we were going to drive out to the city from Disneyland to find the tubes ( we don't even know where we can find the medela spare parts in Hong Kong)
So we decided to just let the milk dry up. The few days of being sick and the missed pumping sessions made the process fairly painless. I hand expressed only when I felt a lump building up. A few days of slightly full breasts and then no more.
Angie doesn't really know since we've been mixing the breastmilk with her formula for the past few months. She no longer drinks direct from the breast. So, well, that's it. Angie was on breastmilk for 8 and a 1/2 months.
I feel really free now.. no more rushing home to pump. No more pumping when I'm dead tired and you know what, I can go back to wearing my wired bras - although I simply cannot get used to them now after months of wearing super comfy lycra band ones. But I do feel a little guilty - since Angie got less than Ally. Hmm. Anyway, I shan't fret anymore. Not bad already lah.
