Ally's Bad Week

Poor Ally is having such a bad week. For three days already, she has been nursing a low grade fever, a very runny nose and a cough that gets more phelgmy ( is that the right spelling?!!) by the day.

At night, she sometimes coughs till she vomits. Large amounts of hardened brown rice and yellow gunk will be strewn all over her bed and pillow every morning, which my poor maid has to wash and wash. Mummy and Daddy too now often have our shirts filled with mucus, saliva and vomit as she comes to our arms for comfort.

So, to cheer her up, we brought her over to Gong Gong's house yesterday. Everything was fine till the last moment as we were about to step out the door. We turned our attention away for an instant and then we heard a loud frantic scream and a torrent of tears followed from Ally.

I rushed to picked her up, wondering what was wrong. She hadn't fallen down, then it dawned on me that she was near the hamster cage.

" Check her hands!" I told Mark, it must be a bite. And true enough, her second finger had a deep deep bite. Blood was oozing out, staining her shirt, pants and mine too. And it wouldn't stop. Just more and more blood from her tiny finger, soaking all the tissues we used.

In between sobs though, the sweet babe still managed to be interested in the "bear bear" on her temporary plaster which we used to wrap around a thick wad of tissue paper, as we whisked her to Kinder Clinic at Parkway.

And all this while Ally was already SOOO sleepy as it was about half an hour past her bedtime at 8pm ( Ally sleeps on the dot every night, she has an amazing body clock timed to perfection!)

She woke up well and good once the doctor came and tried to clean her wound. He decided to let it close by itself even though it was a very deep bite, as STITCHING it up would cause Ally too much trauma. I couldn't have agreed more. Already though the cleansing routine, she cried till she vomitted. Nose mucus, vomit, blood and phelgm all coming out at the same time.

By the time she got home , she had fallen asleep in the car. But we had to wake her up to eat her fever medicine since it always comes back at night.

Hiyoh! What a week and what a night. Let's hope and pray she gets better before new year.

And parents (* I'm sure you know this but just to warn you again) BEWARE OF KIDS NEAR ANIMALS! I shudder to think what would have happen if a dog or some bigger animal had bitten her. I don't think the finger would have still been there.

Ally and her bitten finger which she watches very carefully now.

P.S OH, she also had a bad haircut this week by my mother in law, despite repeated requests to leave the cutting to us. That explains the spastic fringe. Sigh, such a bummer for her. :(

Poor Ally! Hope that incident will not cause a hamster phobia and that she gets better in time for CNY. Wishing you and your family good health and abundant blessings this Lunar New Year.
