15 days!
That's how long I went without pooing!
Absolutely disgusting right? And you can't even imagine the discomfort I was in.
There was just so much food in me that never came out! You see, my mother in law has been ensuring that I get all the nutrition I need so I've been eating mountains of food! Except it was all input no output!
I've been so busy taking care of baby I didn't realise the gravity of the situation until the 10th day. I suddenly realised I haven't been to the toilet to poo for a long time.
So, I went.
The next 5 days were excruciating. It always gets worse when suddenly you are aware of the situation and the thought of all the fermented food in you plagues you!
So, anyway, as expected I could not poo. Everything was so so so so soooooooooooooooo hard. It was like trying to pass out another baby through my anus.
I couldn't do it and each trip to the toilet became a nightmare. I got more and more desperate.
I drank a bottle of prune juice, took long walks, drank gallons of water. Still NOTHING! Just a bloated mummy!
Finally dragged myself to a doctor late at night at 9pm. A real crackpot as there was no other doctor around. This old lady doctor actually scolded me and said ," You stupid girl (YES, She said "STUPID"), why didn't you DIG it out?
"Excuse me?" I was flabbergasted. Did I hear correctly? I told her I was not accustomed to doing such things. She gave me a resigned look.
Anyway, her medicine didn't work and on the 14th day (after another round of laxatives from a friend Evelyn), I DID what she said. I literally dug out my poo. Ha ahaha.
I was real desperate. I had started reading up on the internet and they said 15 days was a really dangerously long time. Numerous articles warned of "Faecal Impaction" where the poo has stayed in there so long it hardens and could need an emergency surgical procedure if it is not resolved soon!
I was not going to have an operation after all that "natural" birth thingys I went through. Ridiculous.
Of course, it was me over worrying. Finally, I went to my good ol family GP and she gave me an enema. That's a mineral oil solution they give you to squirt up you anus. It softens everything and finally, I was relieved of my stool!
Now, I think I have piles! And I asked Mark yesterday if perhaps, we can stop at 2. :) He said I said that the last time too,so he's not too concerned.
Anyway, thanks for listening to my shitty tale. And remember, drink tons of water if you're breastfeeding and MOVE, and don't ever ignore the urge to poo when you're busy. You could end up like me!

oh my goodness... FIFTEEN?!?? when u sms-ed me i had no idea of the gravity of the situation... i panic if i dont go after 5.
and digging it out sounds absolutely ridiculous. shld hv given u an enema straight off.
i also want to stop at 2. not bec of the physical aftermath but dee driving me crazy with her crying. :)
Yah, it was horrible!
And yah, I was just going to ask how you coping? Yes, baby crying a lot can really frustrate , especially if you're tired and hot and bothered.
Ok, let's stop at 2. But something tells me we both might end up with just 1 more. :)
Remember to relax you! If baby cries, I guess have to just ignore, close door, don't listen. Otherwise, it's endless.
STANDING UP?!? CLUNK??! after digging, this truly takes the cake.
once i get frazzled and lose control, i tend to go downhill (like when i rock dee i'll bounce her frantically) and the kids always sense tt and they become fussy as well. yes i shld relax but easier said than done.
as for stopping at 2... it'll be nice to have one BIG-EYED girl but we must watch finances la. no money no baby.
Rachel, pooing the bathtub? hahaha. Shoudl have thought of that one? So who picked up the lump after that to throw or did you just wash it away?
Our husbands really have to love us a lot ah , going by what they have to do and witness in times like these.
Sher: Hang in there!
